So far 2025 has been an amazing whirlwind for us. We're moving to Launceston Tasmania in a couple of weeks which is exciting. The whole team, lol both of us are relocating and establishing our office there.
During the planning for all of this I've been expanding a little game I did as a challenge into something a little more special, The Curse of the Howling Woods.
And now it's out.
It's a nice short game with a maximum length of two hours, unless of course you are eaten by pumpkins or crushed by giant boulders or angry blob of slime sends you packing. Then you could be playing it for longer lol - after intense testing Hannah and I who both "know" the maps can attest. But ultimately a quick game is a good game and you can challenge yourself and not lose weeks to the experience.
I developed a chance based combat system that draws a lot more inspiration from table top D&D than Mortal Kombat. I wanted to have stakes but not make you button mash.
It was also really nice to work more collaboratively, Hannah is the best at upscaling 8-bit sprites LOL.
We also settled on a look and feel for our games going forward which is an incredible weight off our shoulders.
I love this game, it will win no awards, it will have a small but awesome niche community, but it's our first and it ticked the most important box for the Raguthra team: we enjoy playing it.
So I hope those of you who already have your copies it's a spot of fun in these uncertain times. I hope you find a favourite character, yell at the screen and learn to hate bats.

There will be further development on the game in the coming months - we're not releasing it and abandoning it. It will be available on MacOS, the Steam store, Humble Bundle, hopefully GOG.
It's just our very first steps and I'm going to take some time off, move house and then kick up the activity on Fractured Library to bring Hannah's vision to life. Then back to poor old Noah stuck onboard the Clementine!
Thank you again for taking this journey with us!
