Is it super weird to say Noah’s bum from the Spaceship Down demo?
It is weird, right?
But I spent an unreasonable amount of time cracking that detail—and I’m genuinely thrilled whenever someone notices it.
In the original Spaceship Down demo, Noah wears a hospital gown, and I added a little line of darker pixels in the bottom region to suggest, well… cheeks. It’s subtle. Silly. But it mattered.
When we started the visual redesign of the game, there was one thing I had to make sure we preserved. That bum.
If I couldn’t replicate it, I knew the whole thing would feel off. Fortunately, I did. And my inner nine-year-old is still giggling about it.
Game development is weird. And sometimes, you’ve just got to fight for the pixels that bring you joy.
